Kloudpad was set up as an electronics design startup in Kent, England, in 2010. The brand was conceptualised during informal discussions between the founders while visiting an engineering focus group seminar at the University of Greenwich precincts, Kent, United Kingdom, in late 2010. As post-graduate entrepreneurs the founders visited the advanced manufacturing focus group at the University of Greenwich and forged ties with ARM to use their reference designs for manufacturing tablet PCs.

Aromal Jayaraj Shikky and Abbishek Jayaraj Shikky (Co-Founders of CLOUDSYS and KLOUDPAD ) have been recognised by Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent, England since 2011 as their best alumni entrepreneurs for their business efforts in South East England. Publicly recognized as one of the best entrepreneurial team in South East England through the 'Business First' case study. Business First Publication was jointly released by 4 leading universities in Kent and Medway featuring their top Students who were successful in their entrepreneurship journey. KLOUDPAD /CLOUDSYS founders were alumni of Canterbury Christ Church University and the team was among one of the few case studies featured in the first edition of this publication.

KLOUDPAD launched its 7 inch tablet PC in India at a launch event in Trivandrum. The national launch of the product was done by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala - Shri. Oomen Chandy on 21 May 2012. This launch date was the remembrance day for the late Prime Minister of India Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, who was the initiator of the telecom revolution in India. KLOUDPAD Launched the first tablet PC with built-in 3G in India for the mass price of Rs. 9999/- targeting education sector.

The KLOUDPAD INTEL tablet, priced at Rs 11,999, was launched at CeBIT, the Indian edition of world's largest IT and ICT event to be held at Bengaluru from Nov 12-14. UK-based Kloudpad Mobility Research is gearing up for an additional investment of Rs 15 crore to set up a state-of-the-art facility in Cochin to manufacture Intel- powered 3G Tablet phone. "We are planning to invest an additional Rs 15 crore through a combination of debt and equity financing in setting up a state of the art manufacturing facility for INTEL mobile devices products," Aromal Jayaraj, co-founder and Managing Director of Kloudpad Mobility Research said in a press release here. "The tablet is one of our major flagship products and we want to set up a facility to manufacture it in Kochi. We are scouting for land near KINFRA and along Seaport-Airport road for the facility". Kloudpad Mobility Research Pvt Ltd, has already invested close to Rs 5 crore for the current product line in ensuring quality manufacturing partnerships with INTEL and content players like Pearson Education, Smart School, he said.

"Electronics will be a key focus area of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, with the government pushing for promotion of manufacturing, semiconductor wafer fabrication units and an electronics development fund" said Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Cabinet Minister for Department of Electronics and Information Technology. "Since the consumption of electronic goods in India is expected to reach $400 billion by 2020, "It is very important that we increase manufacturing in the (electronics) sector. We can employ about 2.8 crore people. It is very much an employment-based sector" said the Communications and IT minister Abbishek, CEO - KLOUDPAD briefed the minister about the highly ambitious plans of the company to set up a state of the art INTEL tablet production facility in Cochin. The minister had a one to one discussion with Abbishek and assured complete support to the new venture during the meeting. Immediately after the meeting the minister announced the 'Electronics Development Fund' to support the high value manufacturing sector. "I am very happy that Kerala has done good work. We need to replicate it. In order to promote entrepreneurship in IT, the central government has come up with the concept of electronic development fund with the government partnering with angel funds to fund startups in IT, electronics and manufacturing" said Prasad after the meeting.
